Anti War
Is war my best option? Over the years of my life, I have seen the cause and effect of war in media, news, and entertainment. I never really understood how killing another man would solve a political problem. I am proud of what our country has accomplished, but it seems to me there could be other ways to achieve success. I understand why some Americans support the war, but they don’t comprehend the realities of war. I had the chance to have a deep conversation with a recruiting officer at La Pine High, and asked him why I should join the military. All he could say was I should only join if it meant something to me. I thought about my country and what I could do, but couldn’t find a reason for what good it would do America. He expanded the topic by telling me what he accomplished on his first tour in Iraq. He built playgrounds and helped repair housing for Middle Eastern people. To me that’s not doing something for my country. Whose war are we really fighting and why? If politics can’t solve the problem, why kill each other? Loved ones are dying and they don’t have a reason to.

Well, first off, I just wanted to comment on the fact that I truly believe going to war and killing people would definitely not solve any conflicts either, if anything, it could worsen them. However, there are things you could do, even if it is something little like helping feed the hungry, or even rebuilding a playground, for that matter, you still are benefiting your country whether it seems like it or not. I do agree with the officer because if you don't feel like your going to the war would have a purpose and if it dosen't mean anything to you, then you probably shouldn't join. It is very important that you believe you have a purpose to go in and take part in fighting a war.
